Overview

The rise of AI has fundamentally changed how we build digital products. Tasks that once required significant engineering effort can now be approached with smarter workflows, making it practical to create tailored solutions for highly specific needs.

One challenge that has consistently remained is choosing the right platform. Website builders like Webflow offer an exceptional experience for marketing teams, empowering them to create, edit, and publish content independently. However, projects that require advanced e-commerce capabilities, complex backend logic, or deep integrations often push beyond the limits of no-code tools.

At WK8, Webflow remains our platform of choice for many marketing websites because of the speed and autonomy it provides. But we also wanted the flexibility to deliver fully custom and complex websites without sacrificing the same intuitive editing experience. Atelier bridges that gap by combining the freedom of custom development with an enhanced visual editing experience powered by Sanity, allowing us to choose the best technology for every project rather than forcing projects to fit a single platform.

Extending Sanity Beyond a CMS

Sanity provides a powerful and flexible content platform, but we wanted an editing experience that feels closer to modern visual website builders. Atelier builds on top of Sanity Studio with a suite of custom tools designed to make content management faster, more intuitive, and better suited for marketers without the need for a developer.

We enhanced the native interactive Visual Editor for direct on-page editing, added a contextual Properties Panel for managing content and styling, improved page navigation to simplify the use of the native Sanity visual editor, and added a native PostHog analytics integration that brings real website traffic insights directly into the editing workflow. The result is a content management experience that combines the flexibility of a headless CMS with the usability of a visual website builder.
